Batman 2.56 – Caught in the Spider’s Den

And then there was the time that Batman sang “I’m Called Little Buttercup” from HMS Pinafore.

Honestly, that’s not the silliest thing about this episode. It’s when Black Widow supposedly dons a Robin costume and goes out with the robot grandpa from the previous episode, who’s wearing a Batman costume, to rob the eighth bank on her crime spree. Actually, Burt Ward just gets to slowly mouth the dialogue so that Tallulah Bankhead can overdub her lines.

No, wait, the silliest thing is the revelation that Gotham City only has eight banks in it. The town can support the opening of three different umbrella factories in a weekend, but only eight banks. They weren’t even trying at this stage, were they?

  1. I have to ask: who sang “I’m Called Little Buttercup” better? Batman or Sideshow Bob?
